We want to know God’s word. We want to grow in faith. But there’s a purpose behind it: to go and tell others about the Good News.
We’re rolling out and starting up a bunch of ways for you to know the Word and grow, and we hope you’ll also use the opportunity to go and tell some others.
Here’s a rundown of what’s coming this fall, and it all gets started on Sunday, Aug. 25.
Sunday Worship: 3 Services Starting Soon
We want to make room for more people to worship at First Pres and become part of the family. So, starting Aug. 25, we’ll offer three worship times on Sundays. A contemporary service will be held twice, once at 9 a.m. in the sanctuary and then again at 11:15 a.m. in Showker Hall. A traditional service will be held at 11:15 a.m. in the sanctuary. Find out more here.
Sundays: Between the Services
On Sundays, between the worship services from 10:15-11 a.m., join a Sunday school group, the college brunch or a children’s Sunday school class. There’s something for every age. We urge you to commit to staying after 9 a.m. worship or coming early before the 11:15 a.m. services to engage in studies and discussions that will grow your walk with Jesus and each other.
Throughout the Week
Afternoon JAM
Children up to fifth grade can join JAM on Tuesdays starting Sept. 17 for active play, music and Bible exploration. It’ll be held in the Commons from 4 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. each week.
Youth
- Youth small groups start up again on Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 6:30-7:30 a.m. at Chick-fil-A on East Market Street. Students will connect with others over breakfast and Bible study.
- Youth also meet for large group on Sunday nights, starting on Sept. 15, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. They’ll be studying the book of Romans and how it connects to our current culture.
Young Adults
If you’re in your 20s or 30s, we have a group for your stage of life. The group meets Sunday nights at 5 p.m. for dinner, Bible study and prayer at the home of Bob and Judy Augst. Find out more from Bob Augst.
Women’s Bible Study
The Women’s Tuesday Bible Study will be back on Sept. 17 from noon to 1 p.m. They will start with a six-week study of the book of Colossians. Meredith Read, who served on the teaching team of our local Bible Study Fellowship for the past five years and who is the director of women’s ministry at her church, Faith Community Church, will teach. Those interested in childcare should contact Director of Children and Family Ministries Vanessa Manson ([email protected]) no later than the Sunday prior to that week’s meeting.
