Praying … that we grow in prayer
Written by Pastor Jon Heeringa

Recently, I wrote about why the Church needs to be “Reformed and always reforming according to the Word of God and the call of the Spirit.” Prayer is one of those places we need to be growing.

Every week, leading off the prayer part of our Friday email, we include the following quote from Oswald Chambers: “Prayer does not fit us for the greater work, it is the greater work.” Every week there is an open prayer meeting on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. Every month one of Session’s meetings is a dedicated prayer meeting.

Our prayer team is amazing, and I know many of you are faithful prayer warriors. There is good stuff happening when it comes to prayer, but I think we know we should grow in our prayer lives both as individuals and as a congregation.

Now, I could generate a long list of things that can help us grow but given we can do nothing apart from Him, I’m simply praying for growth in prayer and would ask you to pray for the same. Jesus promises that those who ask will receive, so let’s ask to grow in prayer!
