Rev. Scott Thayer works in the areas of congregational care, discipleship and local mission. Scott and his wife, Karen, who have three grown children and one son-in-law, come to First Presbyterian with a wealth of experience and a wonderful sense of calling. Scott has spent the last six years serving as the associate pastor for congregational care at a church in New Jersey. Scott has experience and training in Alpha, Stephen Ministry, GriefShare, DivorceCare, Celebrate Recovery and caring for caregivers. He has been directly responsible for pastoral care, deacons, evangelism, discipleship, missions, development of community life and large-church ministry. Scott received his M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary and earned an M.A. in Marriage and Family Ministries from Talbot School of Theology. He graduated cum laude from Hope International University with a B.A. in business management, and has utilized that background as a marketplace chaplain in recent years, in addition to his church position. Much more important than any degrees or experience, however, Scott and Karen love God and have tremendous hearts for Jesus and those whom God loves.
