The new program, called EPIC (short for Educational Partnership Initiative in our Community), is aimed at helping newcomers learn English in a fun after-school program at Thomas Harrison Middle School. EPIC will meet Mondays from 3 to 5 p.m. starting March 13. It will run for eight weeks.
Volunteers are needed, and no experience teaching English is necessary. The main goal: to build relationships within our community.
The need is clear: Students in Harrisonburg schools speak more than 50 languages and were born in more than 50 different countries.
